NextG Distributed Antenna System
NextG Networks has applied for permits to deploy a new Distributed Antenna System throughout the south coast areas of Santa Barbara County. Small (26-inch whip) antennas are proposed to be mounted on existing utility poles throughout Goleta, Santa Barbara, Montecito, Hope Ranch, Carpinteria and Summerland. Currently, NextG has submitted applications for 47 antenna locations that would provide coverage for one carrier. Also proposed for the project would be fiber optic cabling to connect the network. This cabling would be strung along existing power lines, or trenched underground as needed, and would have the capacity to hold up to five carriers. NextG has submitted an additional 7 applications for the proposed trenching.
