More Mesa Biological Resource StudyThe project entails preparation of a comprehensive biological resource study of More Mesa located in the Goleta Planning Area. More Mesa encompasses approximately 265 acres of undeveloped privately owned property nestled along the Pacific Ocean west of Hope Ranch. Approximately 40 acres of the site is currently zoned Planned Development 70 (70 units) and the rest of the site is designated as Environmentally Sensitive Habitat unsuitable for development. Pursuant to the Goleta Community Plan, prior to accepting any increase in the developable area or the number of allowable residential units, a comprehensive biological study must be done as a stand alone effort - no development is proposed at this time. The study will be prepared by an independent contractor under the direction of Planning and Development, with coordination with the California Coastal Commission and the California Department of Fish and Game. StatusThe Draft Biological Resource Study has been completed and is available for download. [39MB PDF] There is no proposal to hold public workshops or move forward with approval of this study at this time.
